Catherine Marrs Leading Independent Education Consultant

Dear Students & Parents,

Applying and getting into college is harder than ever. In fact, in 2015, college acceptance rates dropped as low as 5.05% for the first time ever. At no surprise, there is an average ratio of 1 counselor for every to 450 students and hiring a private admissions counselor is on the rise. Independent education consultants are here to help students find the right college for them, academically and financially, so they graduate with a relevant degree and without significant debt.

While many students encounter different obstacles during the college planning process, here are 5 top tips that can help college hopefuls succeed.

  • Early bird gets the admission- Start early. Do not wait until the last minute to submit college applications, apply for scholarships and financial aid, and to determine which college or university fits best for the students’ major of choice.

  • Don’t follow the crowd- Just because your best friend, boyfriend, or girlfriend chooses the college of their choice, does not mean that is the right choice for you. You have to determine your destiny and making wise decisions when it comes to your college future is vital

  • Get connected- Join organizations and leadership around campus. This is a good way to meet new friends and connect with the school to make your new college journey smoother than ever.

  • It’s your choice- Do not allow your parents to dictate which college is best for you. Yes, I understand, financially, it is their concern but you also would like to keep in mind that you have to attend and enroll in the classes. Do what is best for you.

  • Practice makes perfect- This is the time that students should be practicing writing essays, interview techniques, and resume writing so that once you graduate, it will be easier to find your career in the field of study you chose.

Having to hire an independent education consultant can be costly and some parents cannot afford it. With my experience of placing thousands of students in colleges and universities, I found that these free tips are most helpful for parents and students.

Happy Thanksgiving! We are thankful for each of our readers and for their remarkable children. For more information about Catherine Marrs, visit www.marrscca.com
