Texas 86th Legislature just concluded
its 140 day session
To provide some perspecitve on the legislative session, we've invited two of Texas' most involved grassroots activists. They'll give their views on
the Good, the Bad and the Ugly
Michael Openshaw, our good friend is founder of the Texas Legislative Watch. Mike will focus on the biennium budget, property tax reform and relief, and school finance issues. Among the key discussions will be: How badly the budget got broken....how close we were to failing to accomplish significant property tax relief....what happened to partly recover.....and did school finance finally get fixed?
Christine Welborn, Director of Direct Action Texas, is the leading watchdog organization for election integrity and advocate for the initiatives to prevent vote fraud. Chris will focus on SB9, the premier legislative push to improving election integrity. Why did it not get voted into law? And what about it's replacement bill that didn't get out of committee. How did Republican majorities fail to make this a priority?
And what about the "Freedom Caucus." They got invited to the table, but did that result in any conservative victories?
Mike and Christine are straight talking, no punches pulled Texans. This should be a lively discussion. Join us....
