The Plano Conservancy for Historic Preservation, Inc. announced today that the group will host a "Tombstone Mysteries" cemetery education event on Saturday, May 9. The event is designed to tie in with National Historic Preservation Month, which is observed each year in May.

"This unique event provides us with an excellent opportunity to celebrate the City of Plano and its heritage," said Plano Conservancy for Historic Preservation, Inc. Co-Director Jeffrey Campbell.  "Our "Tombstone Mysteries" event allows us to educate guests about cemetery restoration projects and the historic preservation efforts underway in the city, and also gives us the chance to make them aware of the rich history and culture that this area has to offer."

On Saturday, May 9, from 9:00 a.m. to 11 a.m., the group will present "Tombstone Mysteries", a historic cemetery restoration and preservation event for youth and adults. The event will take place at Plano's Old City Cemetery and L.A. Davis Cemetery in Plano. Participants will plant flowers, clean gravestones, place flags on soldier’s tombstones, and hear about the lives of cemetery residents. The event is free, but registration is required to aid in materials preparation.
