On August 10, Benjamin Kolodziej presented a lecture outlining the history of Lutheran sacred music in Texas at Faith Lutheran Church in Plano. The session, based on his new book entitled Joyful Singing: A Story of Lutheran Sacred Music in Texas, published by Fortress Press, highlighted the sacred music of generations of Texas Lutherans, concentrating heavily on the Wends and Rev. Jan Kilian, the founder of the LCMS in Texas, to the development of choirs and organs in the local church, and to the historical role Concordia University in Austin played in training church musicians in the state. Never far from the discussion was the many people whose careers were and are dedicated to serving God and His people with their music.  Benjamin Kolodziej is a member of Faith Lutheran Church.
