On Friday, September 16, Plano's Heritage Farmstead Museum will host a special education event targeted to homeschool families called “Little Farmstead on the Prairie”.

“Step back in time to the world of the Laura Ingalls and the ‘Little House on the Prairie’ book series.  Experience what life was like with hands on farm activities such as plowing and planting, shucking corn and feeding chickens, milking a cow, and washing clothes the old fashioned way,” said Heritage Farmstead Museum Executive Director M’Lou Hyttinen.  “Visit a one room school house like Laura attended and taught in and play pioneer games of the past.  Take a tractor driven wagon ride and figure out how many supplies your family would need to travel west.”

The event will also feature an outdoor cooking demonstration, a creek visit, and more.

The Heritage Farmstead Museum homeschool “Little Farmstead on the Prairie” event will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, September 16.  Online pre-registration is preferred but not required. Tickets may also be purchased at the door the day of the event.. Tickets are $7 each for children and $3 each for adults. Children under two are free.

The Heritage Farmstead Museum is located at 1900 West 15th Street in Plano.

Online registration for the event is available at http://tinyurl.com/farmsteadprairie2016 or register by calling 972.881.0140
