Choose either of two classes to learn traditional Carpatho-Rusyn drop-pull pysanky (Easter eggs) with Linda Bowka, Pysanky Artist.
Pysanky means "to write" and the art of pysanky is simply writing on eggs with wax and dyes. The two classes are identical -- each class covers the same methods and techniques.
Cost is $30, and space is limited. Get tickets at pysanky.eventbrite.com.
Supplies, including eggs, will be provided. Please bring a container or egg carton to take your completed egg home, and bring an apron, smock, or shirt to protect your clothing.
The class is suitable for ages 12 and up. The process calls for discipline and coordination, and we will be working with raw eggs and candles.
Visit pysanky.eventbrite.com to choose either class:
Linda Bowka is retired from Eli Lilly and lives with her husband Mark Bowka in San Antonio, TX. She has two children and three grandchildren who also live in TX. Linda has enjoyed the tradition of making and teaching others to make pysanky for over 30 years. Linda is Carpatho-Rusyn and visited her ancestral village, Mlynarovce, Slovakia, in 2019.
