Clay Shoot 2018

The ninth annual Northwestern Mutual Clay Shoot returns to the Dallas Gun Club for another year of outdoor fun benefiting TeamConnor Childhood Cancer Foundation.  The event raised more than $100,000 for childhood cancer research and programs in 2018 implemented by TeamConnor.

“The Clay Shoot is one of our most popular events and we appreciate the dedication and support of such a generous group,” said Emily Allbright, executive director of TeamConnor. “When a child is diagnosed with cancer, their future hopes and dreams seem bleak. With every dollar that is raised, we can commit more funding to prominent researchers who are making great strides in critical research.”

TeamConnor has donated nearly $3 million to research institutions since it was founded in 2008, following the cancer diagnosis of four-year-old Connor Cruse of Frisco who lost his battle in 2009.

“We are so honored to be returning as the presenting sponsor for the 9th Annual Northwestern Mutual Clay Shoot,” said Tait Cruse, managing partner of Northwestern Mutual - Dallas. “This event aligns with Northwestern Mutual’s philanthropic commitment to provide funding for pediatric cancer research and resources needed to fight this disease.”

In addition to Northwestern Mutual Dallas, sponsors for the event include Frost Bank, WebTPA, Benefits Texas, Wright Construction Company, Town & Country Roofing, Sewell Automotive Companies, Venture X Frisco, Mullis Newby Hurst, Prestonwood Pond, LLC, Pitts Birdsong Bonds & Insurance, Christy and Chuck Harbison, Blake Brawner, and Charles Armstrong. There are several sponsorship levels available that help fund childhood cancer research. For more details on the sponsorships, contact Lindsay Cleland at lcleland@teamconnor.org.

TeamConnor hosts several events throughout the year to raise funds and awareness for childhood cancer research, including the 9th Annual Northwestern Mutual Clay Shoot, November 4, 2019; Smashing Childhood Cancer, January 25, 2020, and the 16th Annual III Forks Golf ClassicMay 3 - 4, 2020.

Every year, more than 12,500 children and adolescents are diagnosed with cancer in the United States. Childhood cancer is the number one disease killer of children; yet, the budget of the National Cancer Institute allocates less than four percent of its funds to pediatric cancer research. TeamConnor Childhood Cancer Foundation is dedicated to raising awareness and funding research and treatment programs to find a cure for all childhood cancers.
