The III Forks Golf Classic Auction & Dinner benefiting TeamConnor Childhood Cancer Foundation raised a record $365,000 for the fight against the number one disease killer of children, cancer.

Local media personality Amy Vanderoef hosted the III Forks Golf Classic auction dinner while joined by 660-AM The Answer talk radio personality Mark Davis as Master of Ceremonies.  Dallas Cowboys Ring of Honor and NFL Hall of Fame 96’ member Mel Renfro and his wife served as Honorary Co-Chairs.  The live auction was full of exciting items such as trip to Napa Valley filled with VIP tours and tastings, Lajitas Golf Resort getaway, dinner in your home with Top Chef Tre Wilcox, Lexus of Champions for Charity National Championship at Pebble Beach, California, a Texas Rangers suite, and a seven-night stay at a Beach House in Seacrest, Florida.

III Forks was the title sponsor with Northwestern Mutual – Dallas the presenting sponsor for the 2015 III Forks Golf Classic. Additional sponsors included Park Place Lexus Plano, Partners National, Bang Whitetail Ranch, Alex Beilin, Benefits Texas, Scott & Reid General Contractors, Allgoods, EmCare, UnitedHealthcare, Northwestern Mutual Allen, Anchor Distilling Co., Jordan, Houser & Flournoy, LLP; Rick & Beck Welday, Mark Vehslage, Wing Stop, Charles Armstrong, Richard Asel, Scott & Candy Lane, Ben E. Keith, Gleneagles Country Club and Satterwhite Media.

More than 200 players came out to support the battle against childhood cancer at the golf tournament held at the prestigious Gleneagles Country Club in Plano.  Last year’s event raised more than $325,000, which helped fund numerous grants for cancer research projects across the country.   The TeamConnor Childhood Cancer Foundation has awarded more than $1.7 million in funding for research and patient programs to date.

TeamConnor hosts several events throughout the year to raise funds for childhood cancer research, including the 4th Annual Splash Out Childhood Cancer at Hawaiian Falls The Colony July 16, the National Childhood Cancer Awareness Prayer Vigil and Concert September 12; Color Me Green 5K and Caterpillar Dash October 3; and Northwestern Mutual Clay Shoot November 5.  In addition, TeamConnor’s national Coins for Kids with Cancer program raises funds in schools, churches, offices and organizations to help fund childhood cancer research.

Worldwide, a child is diagnosed with cancer every three minutes. In the United States, cancer kills more children every year than AIDS, asthma, diabetes, cystic fibrosis and congenital anomalies combined. Yet, the National Cancer Institute allocates less than four percent of its funds to pediatric cancer research. TeamConnor Childhood Cancer Foundation is dedicated to serving families, building awareness, and raising funds for research to help cure childhood cancer.
