Kathryn Copple Development Manager for TeamConnor Childhood Cancer Foundation

TeamConnor Childhood Cancer Foundation has named Kathryn Copple as Development Manager.  Copple has more than nine years experience working with event planning, client relationship management and fundraising. As the Development Manager, Copple will be responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with donors, managing event logistics and processes and developing proposals for all foundation fundraising and grants.

“Childhood cancer kills more children each year than cystic fibrosis, muscular dystrophy, asthma and AIDs combined; yet, the National Cancer Institute only allocates less than four percent of its budget to pediatric cancer,” said Copple, Development Manager of TeamConnor.  “As an advocate and face for childhood cancer, I am hoping to further TeamConnor’s mission, bring awareness and raise more funds for childhood cancer research.”

TeamConnor was founded in 2008 while Connor Cruse was in the midst of his four-year battle with neuroblastoma cancer.  Connor lost his battle on July 10, 2009, but TeamConnor remains committed to fight for all children who are battling cancer.

“Kathryn comes to TeamConnor with a background that will help us reach more donors and sponsors,” said Jamie Singer, Executive Director for TeamConnor Childhood Cancer Foundation. “As one of the leading causes of deaths among children, childhood cancer receives very little government funding for research.  Therefore, it’s imperative we continue to raise the bar that will eventually lead us to a cure for childhood cancer. Kathryn is a perfect fit in this fight against childhood cancer.”

In 2014, TeamConnor provided more than $360,000 in grants to five top research hospitals in the United States conducting cutting edge research of childhood cancers.  The organization has donated more than $1.7 million to research hospitals since its inception.

Every year, more than 12,500 children and adolescents are diagnosed with cancer in the United States. TeamConnor Childhood Cancer Foundation is dedicated to raising awareness and funding research and treatment programs to find a cure for all childhood cancers.

TeamConnor hosts several events throughout the year to raise funds for childhood cancer research, including Splash Out Childhood Cancer, July 16, National Childhood Cancer Awareness Concert, September 12, Color Me Green 5K & Caterpillar Dash, October 3 and Northwestern Mutual Clay Shoot, November 5. In addition, TeamConnor’s national program Coins for Kids with Cancer® raises funds in schools, churches, offices and organizations across the country to help fund childhood cancer research. More information on this program can be found at www.coinsforkidswithcancer.org.
