drew Methodist Church is proud to announce that world-renowned theologian
and author N.T. Wright will be the inaugural speaker for the new Dr. Scot
 t L. Engle Lecture Series on Wednesday\, November 12\, from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
\, in the sanctuary at 5801 W. Plano Parkway in Plano\, Texas. Wright will
speak on themes of resurrection and hope in new creation\, drawing from h
is decades of scholarship and ministry. \nProfessor Wright is a distinguis
hed New Testament theologian\, ordained Anglican Bishop\, professor at the
University of Oxford\, and the author of more than 85 books. Known for hi
s accessible and faithful explanations of the Christian message\, Wright s
erved as the Bishop of Durham from 2003 to 2010\, one of the most senior p
ositions in the Church of England. His unique combination of scholarly exc
ellence\, pastoral wisdom\, and theological creativity has secured his leg
acy in 21 st -century Christianity. Through his prolific writing and teach
ing\, Wright invites believers into a renewed vision of the Kingdom of God
  – one that is ancient yet urgent\, cosmic yet deeply personal. \nThe new
lecture series honors Dr. Scott Engle\, longtime teaching pastor at St. A
ndrew\, who first encountered Wright’s work two decades ago through a cove
r story in Christianity Today . \n“Reading about him led to my immediate c
uriosity in his writings\,” said Dr. Engle. “He has been an integral part
of my life and my teachings – and as an extension\, part of St. Andrew’s
life\, our theology\, and our approach to Scripture. He helps people see
the larger story without getting lost in the trees. Wright is a gifted\,
prolific scholar who knows how to speak to regular people and help them e
mbrace the truth of the Gospel.” \nIn addition to his academic work\, Wrig
ht – also known as Tom Wright – is widely celebrated for his writing for g
eneral audiences. His books\, which bridge the gap between academia and th
e church\, have inspired countless readers to think deeply about the impli
cations of Christian faith in everyday life. \n“St. Andrew is thrilled to
share this opportunity with the wider community\,” said Rev. Arthur Jones
\, senior pastor of St. Andrew. “For years\, our pastors have admired Wrig
ht’s brilliant teaching. His frameworks make sense in today’s world while
holding firm to the eternal truths of God. This is a rare and powerful op
portunity. Don’t miss it!” \nTickets are available for $45 at www.standrew
 methodist.org/calendar . \n  \n# # # \n The Dr. Scott L. Engle Lecture Ser
